GrayWatches

Grey-market watches, priced honestly.

Grey-market dealers sell genuine watches below authorised-dealer pricing. Some of them. We check which, reference by reference, and publish what we find.

Why this exists

Grey-market retailers advertise discounts of 40–70% off list. The discount is real only if the list price is. Frequently it is not. The “was” figure is set well above anything the market actually charges, and the sale price still lands above what you would pay elsewhere.

There is no independent source checking this. So we price individual references against the open market, add the real cost of getting one to your door, and publish the number.

References above market at the first retailer we checked

Best case: Fossil FS6036 GMT+20%
Seiko 5 SKX GMT SSK036+34%
Seiko 5 SNKL86K1+45%
Worst case: Casio GM-S5600PG-1+54%

Their advertised “was” prices sat 47–136% above real market pricing. Not one reference was cheaper than buying it elsewhere.

What we publish

Price checks. Individual references against several retailers, with the date and the sources, so you can verify it yourself in a minute.

Landed cost. What a watch actually costs delivered: shipping, import duty, VAT, clearing and your bank’s foreign-transaction fee. For South Africa that adds roughly 25% to the sticker, and almost nobody tells you before checkout.

Buying guides. Which reference to buy and why, so you can stop researching and get on with it.

In progress

The first guides and the full price study are being written now. Nothing here is sponsored, and where we earn a commission we say so on the page.
